Alan Frank

President and CEO, Post Newsweek Stations, Inc.

Alan Frank became president and chief executive officer of Post-Newsweek Stations in January 2000. He had been vice president and general manager of WDIV-TV since 1988. In 1992 he negotiated the purchase of PASS Sports, Michigan's cable sports system, which was sold to Fox Sports in 1997.

Frank joined WDIV in 1979 as program manager. In 1986 he became vice president of programming and production for Post-Newsweek Stations.

Prior to joining WDIV, Frank held management positions with Group W, including program manager at WJZ-TV, Baltimore (1975-1978), WBZ-TV, Boston (1974-1975), executive producer at KPIX-TV, San Francisco (1972-1974), and production manager for The David Frost Revue (1971-1972).

Frank is chairman of the Television Board of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and the Network Affiliated Station Alliance (NASA) and serves on the board of directors of MSTV, the Broadcasters’ Foundation and Internet Broadcasting. He also serves on the board of governors of the ABC Affiliate Association. In 2005 he was named Broadcasting and Cable’s "Broadcaster of the Year."

Frank was the founding chairman of the board of trustees of Sparky Anderson’s charity for children and serves on the boards of various children’s and other charities.

A native of Pittsburgh, Frank received a BA in journalism from Duquesne University. He received a master's degree in television and radio from Syracuse University. He served in the U.S. Army as an officer in Vietnam.
