About OMVC Partners

OMVC Partners

To carry out its work in product testing, standards development, advocacy and other activities, the OMVC calls on a wide array of partners. Already mentioned are the National Association of Broadcasters, Maximum Service Television and the Association of Public Television Stations. In addition, OMVC belongs to and participates directly in the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC), an international, non-profit organization developing voluntary standards for digital television. In addition, the OMVC has alliances with CEA’s SIG for mobile DTV and with the Mobile DTV Alliance.

ATSC

ATSC - The Advanced Television Systems Committee, Inc., is an international, non-profit organization developing voluntary standards for digital television. The ATSC member organizations represent the broadcast, broadcast equipment, motion picture, consumer electronics, computer, cable, satellite, and semiconductor industries. ATSC creates and fosters implementation of voluntary Standards and Recommended Practices to advance terrestrial digital television broadcasting, and to facilitate interoperability with other media.

MSTV

MSTV - The Association for Maximum Service Television, Inc., is the recognized industry leader in broadcasting technology and spectrum policy issues. Formed in 1956, MSTV has endeavored to ensure that the American public receives the highest quality, interference free, over-the-air local television signals.

NAB

NAB - The National Association of Broadcasters is a trade association that advocates on behalf of more than 8,300 free, local radio and television stations and also broadcast networks before Congress, the Federal Communications Commission and the Courts.

CEA

CEA - The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA®) sponsors a Special Interest Group (SIG) to address Mobile DTV based on the Advanced Television Systems Committee's Candidate Standard A/153, which is an addition to the ATSC's broadcast digital television standards in the United States. A/153 Mobile DTV will allow digital television (DTV) broadcasts beyond the living room. The new capability allows TV broadcasters to use part of their signal to deliver services that can be reliably received by handheld receiving units and receivers in moving vehicles.

The Special Interest Group for ATSC M/H is supporting the launch and growth of mobile digital TV in North America by fostering industry dialogue, educational programs, and unified messaging; and by promoting the development and use of technical standards and best practices documents. The SIG will be able to discuss the fundamentals of the standard, facilitate discussions with suppliers of technologies specified by the standard and arrange meetings with groups such as the Open Mobile Video Coalition (OMVC) to understand the broadcaster perspective. Interested persons should contact Jack Cutts at jcutts@CE.org or 703-907-7052.

MDTVA

MDTVA - The Mobile DTV Alliance is based on the cooperative and collaborative efforts of its members to help drive and promote mobile digital television via adoption of bearer technologies such as ATSC-M/H and DVB-H, and a common service technology layer for those bearer technologies. Its mission is to promote an open value chain, offering the market more than one interoperable mobile DTV alternative.
